Every action
has two endings.
A user clicks Save.
Nothing appears to happen.
They click Save again.
Observation
A user clicks Save.
The page stays exactly the same.
No confirmation appears.
They pause.
Then they click Save again.
Then something changes.
The second click isn't about saving.
It's about certainty.
The action is already complete.
The interaction isn't.
What this reveals
Every action has two endings.
One for the system.
One for the user.
When only one of them happens, users create their own confirmation.
The interaction isn't complete until both have happened.
Why language matters
Language doesn't complete the action.
It completes the interaction.
Sometimes a single word is enough.
Not to tell users what happened.
To let them stop wondering.
